A: An internal consultant operates within an organization to provide support or increase productivity in some area. Their responsibilities include analyzing issues within an organization and providing a program to help solve those problems. An internal consultant may work with management to offer plans to improve their leadership and employee satisfaction, or they may analyze how the company. In contrast, an internal consultant is a part- or full-time employee in the client's organization. It is very useful to know the typical differences between the two, especially in terms of how they are viewed by their clients and the different parameters in their roles. Internal consulting and external consulting have grown recently, and their importance continues to emerge. Internal consulting groups support the development of key capabilities across the organization essential for future success in areas, such as strategic planning, project management, change leadership, and process improvement.

An internal consultant is a knowledge worker who offers their services to multiple business units within an organization. The term implies an employee whose objectives are assigned on a project or task basis. The following are illustrative examples.
